Brazil’s IT industry totaled $101 B in 2010, representing 9.6% of the country's GDP. Brazil's IT spending is expected to continue growing into the future. The government is a contributing factor to this trend, as it currently spends 1% of the GDP in R&D.
Our strategy is to take advantage of this projected overall growth trend in Brazilian technology. We intend to partner with business chambers and organizations like BRASSCOM, which attracts a pool of entrepreneurs to their network of over 400 incubators all over Brazil. Additionally, we will pursue a partnership with the Financing Agency for Projects and Studies (FINEP) program, which provides grants and venture forums to attract more entrepreneurs. By sponsoring some of these programs, we will have access to a entire network of entrepreneurs and start-ups.
We are well versed in identifying and evaluating the needs of seed-stage through growth-stage companies. This allows us to fund high potential companies directly with early-stage and follow-on investments, or to showcase the company to U.S. investors for additional funding. Additionally, we are strategically positioned to invest in great companies because start-ups are currently experiencing a funding gap and have difficulty securing future rounds of financing.
Using our networks in China and Asia, we can bring emerging technologies to regions of high population growth which will enable these companies to scale much faster rather than trying to compete in the U.S. where the market is highly competitive.
